Welcome to Stand Up

A support group for families of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Portsmouth

What We Do

Advocating Change

Its never easy being a special needs parent/carer. All we seem to do is fight for one thing or another for our children. It can be a daily struggle for alot of us. We all need to support each other, listen & help each other. Our children are similar in many ways but they also have very individual needs to each other too! What works for one won't for others ect. Us as parents just get on with day to day life because we have to...we didn't choose this life & we certainly didn't choose for our children to have the difficulties & obstacles they face on a daily basis either! No-one knows what we deal with as individuals apart from ourselves! Walk a mile in another's shoes! A smile can hide a broken soul. 😔 We do not judge! We do not take no for an answer , We do not quit!! We will STAND UP! Together! We know our kids the best. We see their true colours. We are their voice!

It Starts With the Will to Make a Difference

SEND Kids Club

Every Friday 3.45pm-5.45pm at Fratton Community Centre.

For SEND Children, their siblings and parents/carers. A chance to meet and play in a safe, non-judgmental environment. We will have a bouncy castle, diddi car race track, arts & crafts and light refreshments including tea, coffee, biscuits and a friendly ear for the grown ups too!
There is a charge of £3 per adult to attend, this goes towards covering the costs of the refreshments and hall hire. There is a maximum of 30 spaces per session and this must include the volunteers that run the sessions. Spaces are stricty limited and must be booked in advance online. Unfortunately we will not accept walk-ins on the day.

Due to Covid-19 we are unable at present to have fancy dress or our old dark den as these are predominately made from cloth like material that is not easy to keep clean; as time progresses we hope to re-introduce these.

Stand Up goes Wacky!

Every other Tuesday from 22nd June

Join us for soft play and food at the newly refurbished Wacky Warehouse at the FarmHouse on Burrfields Road, Portsmouth. It is £5.50 per child, this includes 2 hours of soft play exclusively for members of Stand Up and food from their children's menu (adults can order food from the adults menu if they like too).

Children can one of the following with chips:

* Chicken Nuggets

* Fish Fingers

* Burger

* Pizza

* Sausage

NB. Beans / Peas are an optional extra. Please confirm your food choice upon booking. Many thanks.

Parents/Carers are allowed in the soft play area with their children and there is no height or minimum age restrictions.

Please note that with all our events and activities, you must stay with and supervise your children at all times. Access is through a designated Wacky Warehouse entrance, you do not need to go through the main bar area to access the soft play.

Kids have to be exposed to different things in order to develop. A child’s not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it…
